Child Protection Policy
Purpose statement:
Haverford Friends Meeting cherishes all children and has a particular care to provide a safe and secure environment for children here in the Meeting when they participate in our programs and activities. We also wish to provide clear guidance to staff and volunteers to help ensure the safety of our children.

Responsibilities:
Our Young Friends Meeting Committee will assume responsibility for several areas:
It will determine the number of people needed to provide care of the children attending Young Friends Meeting in accordance with State law,
It will provide guidance to other members or attenders of the Meeting who wish to provide childcare for Meeting activities and events on other days of the week and ensure that that group follows our protocols,
Young Friends Meeting Committee will interview, or appoint other qualified members or attenders of the Meeting, to interview anyone supervising children. Young Friends Meeting Committee will ensure that anyone supervising children obtains all required clearances before beginning to care for children.
The Young Friends Meeting Committee will maintain records on anyone supervising children, including their background information and mandated clearances, and review these regularly to see that they are kept up-to-date.
The Young Friends Meeting Committee will provide information about safety practices and protocols to anyone supervising children when that person begins caring for children and annually thereafter.
The Young Friends Meeting Committee will provide information and training to anyone supervising children about their responsibility to report, and how to report, suspected child abuse.Adopted 12/2023
