New Peace Events!
May 9th gathering in Philadelphia: "Bring Peace Home on Mothers' Day" organized by United For Peace and Justice (Delaware Valley Network) at Arch St. United Methodist Church, 12:30 - 4:00 pm. Music, poetry, speakers, workshops.
May 16th Peace Way Festival at Providence Friends Meeting.
Interfaith Hospitality Network is a really wonderful opportunity to sit down and break bread with folks who are doing their best to raise their kids, hold down a job, etc, but have been forced out of their homes for various reasons. Thanks to years of playing with the kids at IHN, my children know that homelessness happens to real people with names and faces.
Every 10 weeks, Central Baptist Church in Wayne hosts Interfaith Hospitality Network for one week. A few Friends from Haverford Meeting usually prepare and serve the Thursday night dinner. The shift is 5:00 - 9:00. The guests usually eat between 5:30 and 6:00. Dinner on Thursday, May 21, is the next opportunity to volunteer. There are also opportunities to be an overnight host. Please call Brenda Rose Simkin at 610-658-5269 for more information.
